Ttanning beds are now labeled as “carcinogenic to humans.” This means tanning beds are now lumped into the same category as cigarrettes, asbestos, and arsenic. We all know that tanning ages your skin prematurely, just like smoking, and those of us who partake in the basking of strong UVB rays to deepen the color of our skin. However, what many of us fail to note is the business side of tanning with is a billion dollar business. Each year, 30 million Americans use tanning beds or that amount 2.3 million are teenagers. Tanning beds increase the chances of skin cancer and melanoma. This is why a 10 percent tax has been made in the United States on tanning salons. To cover the expected future healthcare costs of expensive skin cancer treatments in the future. Below is a video of a woman name Trisha from California who is addicted to tanning.
Even Style Network host Danielle Fishel rips into her.
You probably can’t miss a name as fashionable as Chanel Iman. Chanel Iman walked in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show among her many list of runway events, but did this Los Angeles native always put her eyes on the modeling world?
Brandy & Maksim Chmerkovskiy performed the Paso Doble to Katy Perry’s ‘Firework’ last night on Dancing with the Stars which the pairing dedicating to those who have ever been bullied. While I don’t always catch the show, for the last few seasons, I’ve always had my picks for who I would like to see in the finale just in case I watch. This season my pairing favorite was the beautiful Brandy and handsome Maksim.
Last Week Maksim got a bit of what could be construed as un-constructive criticism which caused a bit of ballroom-banter between Maksim and judge Carrie Ann regarding the performance piece of Brandy and Maks’ Cha Cha Cha. Maksim explained his thoughts regarding what he felt was an injustice which all the other pro-dancers seem to agree with.
The challenge which led to the incident required the celebrities and their professional dance partners to choreograph and deliver a dance without knowing what their music would be until their actual televised performance. Catch the two perform their Cha Cha Cha to mystery song ‘Teenage Dream’ by Katy Perry in the video below.
Unfortunately, my favorites are no longer in the running for the Disco Ball trophy. Brandy was tearful upon the couple’s elimination. I hope to see the pair dance together again as they have chemistry but I think I won’t be watching the finale if this couple wasn’t even in the Top 3 when they scored a perfect 30 the night before. I’m always going to be a fan of Brandy, I’ve loved her since Thea. And Maksim?? What’s not to love about this handsome, passionate, and caring male.
In Twitterverse, Brandy said “My life has truly changed from one of the most challenging experiences of my life! My confidence, strength, and passion has reawakened:) I am forever grateful to God and all of you who believed when I didn’t! Thank you so much for being the best fans in the whole world!! Love Bran” while her partner Maksim tweeted “WOW! What can I say? If this is a test, I’m failing it… Was raised in a very ‘justice driven’ household & see no justice in ‘DWTS’…. Sorry @4everBrandy if I failed US. You were AMAZING tonight and always!”
If you haven’t noticed, commercials and music go hand and hand. Apple’s Ipod commercials helped turn the Ting Ting’s in a mainstream success which just a snippet of a song that had us searching up and down for the name. And Apple isn’t the only one. Companies benefit from using catchy tunes because it leaves the customer with the title “What was the name of that song in the (Insert Company’s Name) commercial?”. I remember watching Desperate Housewives and seeing a 30-second spot of Victoria’s Secret Angels Adriana Lima, Chanel Iman, Erin Heatherton, Candice Swanepoel, Katsia Zingarevic and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley showing off the newest Bombshell bras in the Miraculous® Push-Up collection with the tagline ‘Hello Bombshell’.
I loved the beat of the song and thought it would be great for my playlists of when I want to feel like a Bombshell when I’m putting on my makeup. So if you were wondering the song featured in the above advertisement is ‘Get Ready Now’ by Rinocerose. You’re Welcome, Bombshell!
The picture above might be an extreme case-in-point but, hopefully the point I will be trying to make will be clear. While I love to pay tribute to Jessica Rabbit with her side swept do covering one eye, I believe sometimes we take styles to the extreme where they are non-functional and partially to blame for our bad driving. I have to admit I’ve taken the side swept bang look to the extremes as certain times where I would be lucky to see out one eye. However, I’ve been trying to deprogram myself saving it’s ok to show face as well as safer. I still love bangs, don’t get me wrong, they can soften or add mystery but just like those huge trucks with the caution “If you can see me then I can’t see you”, the same rule tends to be in effect.
This is why I appreciate what Megan Fox gives on the red carpet, she doesn’t hide her face behind heavy bangs or a dramatic do’ she brings the drama to her eyes and that’s immediately where the focus goes. I’m not urging you to change your hairstyle if you like it, I’m pushing you to think about why you wear your hair a certain way? Does it make you appear more attractive? Does it make you feel like yourself? Are you attempting to hide something? If you answer is ‘Yes, I’m trying to hide the acne on my forehead’ I would caution you that oil and dirt and compound behind the heavy fridge thus, making your situation worse. Be confident about your face and try something different every once in a while. I leave you with Megan Fox and a tune I found on youtube which deals with the same subject.

While the heavy response towards bullying seems directed towards individuals bullying the LGBT community, I want to point out that anyone can be bullied and anyone can be the bully regardless of gender status or sexual orientation. But with the heavy push of the media hopefully a positive impact can be made across the nation to promote a safer and more positive environment regardless of sexual orientation, weight, economic status, etc. Celebrities aren’t the only ones getting in on promotion of ‘It Gets Better’ companies like PopSugar have joined in the effort to promote safety and positivity as well.
