Lady Gaga was selected as the 2011 MAC Viva Glam spokesperson to promote the prevention of HIV/AIDS. You may remember her pairing with Cyndi Lauper to release two shades of the iconic and charitable Viva Glam Lipstick for promotion of AIDS/HIV awareness with proceeds going to charity. Lady Gaga new 2011 ad was shot by Nick Knight and styled by Thierry Mugler creative director and Gagas’ stylist Nicola Formichetti.
The MAC AIDS Fund was started in 1994 by the founder of MAC Cosmetics to raise awareness for the disease. 100% of the proceeds of the Viva Glam lipstick line goes to those suffering from AIDS. Since the launch of the campaign, spokespeople chosen express stong individuality, are influential and at times provocative with the likes of RuPaul, KD Lang, Pamela Anderson, Fergie, Lil Kim, Missy Elliot, Christina Aguilera, and Dita Von Tees throughout the years.

Lady Gaga has said “I don’t live in an era where you can sleep with whoever you want to sleep with,” adding ”You have to really be careful with yourself and get to know people and get tested before you have sex is very important”.
