After stiff competition, Danielle Doty of Texas won the title of Miss Teen USA 2011.  As the new Miss Teen USA 2011, Danielle will take over the from last year’s winner, Kamie Crawford of Maryland. Doty is the second Miss Texas Teen USA to win the national title. Christie Lee Woods, who was later an ‘Amazing Race contestant, won Miss Teen USA in 1996.

After the 51 contestants opened up the show, the Top 15 were selected which included; Texas – Danielle Doty ,North Dakota – Audra Mari, California – Alexis Swanstrom , Kansas - Taylor Clark, Missouri – Sydnee Stottlemyre , Colorado - Caley-Rae Pavillard,  Georgia - Kristen Robinson,  Indiana - Jessica Buch, Maine - Alexis Mcilwain, Maryland - Kirsten Nicholson, Minnesota - Hannah Corbett, New Jersey - Savannah Schechter, Pennsylvania - Madison Longstreth, South Carolina - Keyla Childs, West Virginia - Susan King

The Top 15 went to compete in the swimsuit round. The swimsuit portion was presented by Kooey Australia as each contestant was outfitted by the brands beautiful swimwear. Throughout the pageant, hosts Miss Teen USA 2005 Allie LeForce and Chet Buchanan, a Las Vegas radio and TV host, served as hosts for the pageant, which streamed live online. The pageant did not take place in the U.S.A., but at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas.

After the swimsuit round, Kia Hampton, Miss Kentucky USA 2011, performed ‘Better Be Ready’ live. The song was written by R&B singer Ne-Yo. Hampton started her performance with an opening ballad which quickly turned into a high-energy, uptempo beat. Hampton

After Hampton’s performance. The Top 15 competed in the evening gown competition. Contestants wore gowns from sponsor, Sherri Hill. 

If there were an prize for’ Best in Evening Gown’, the title would have probably went to Miss Teen Georgia USA Kristen Robinson, as chat rooms, twitter, and facebook feeds applauded her overall look, walk, and presentation for the evening gown. Robinson, wore a bright pink Sherri Hill gown, which showed off her beautiful complexion & radiant smile, and make her a viewer favorite.. 

From the evening gown competition the Top 5 were selected. Which included; Texas – Danielle Doty , North Dakota – Audra Mari, California – Alexis Swanstrom, Kansas - Taylor Clark, Missouri – Sydnee Stottlemyre After the Top 5 were selected, they were given a quick personal interview question before moving onto the final question. During the final question, each finalist were asked a tough question by the judge they randomly selected. Judges included Dr. Cheryl Karcher, BJ Coleman. Lora Flaugh, Fred Nelson, Vinnie Potestivo, Katherine Schwarzenegger, Michele Wiltshire. Topics ranged from sell-esteem/body-image, bullying, plastic surgery, ‘sexting’, and a question regarding geography which was asked during the 2007 Miss Teen USA Pageant and became an infamous viral clip seen world-wide. Through reaction from the chat-rooms and applause it seemed that Miss Missouri Teen and Miss Texas Teen gave the most ‘composed’, ‘well-said’, ‘least-nervous’ answers.

After the final question, the Top 5, participated in their Final Walk before placements would be decided. After their final walk, contestants viewed a montage of past winner reactions which included host Alli LaForce, Vanessa Manillo, and the reigning Miss Teen USA. Miss Teen USA 2010 Kamie Crawford of Maryland took to the stage for one last time as the reigning Miss Teen USA. Crawford, was teary-eyed, trying to keep her composure as audio played sharing her experiences and thanks to the Miss Teen USA Organization, as well as welcoming her new successor to a ‘sisterhood’. Crawford shared her fondness of Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih and Miss Universe 2010 Ximena Navarrete whom she roomed with over the course of her reign in New York. After Crawford’s final walk, awards were given for Miss Congeniality and Miss Photogenic. For the Miss Congeniality, contestants decided amongst themselves who was most deserving of the award. Savannah Schechter of New Jersey took home the award for Miss Congeniality. After Miss Congeniality was named. Miss Photogenic was awarded a prize based off of votes held throughout the past month through People’s Choice. Miss Hawaii Teen USA, Courtney Coleman, took home the prize and earned a spot on the red carpet during the 2011 People’s Choice Awards.After awards were given, the Top 5 took their place on stage to find who amongst them would be crowned Miss Teen USA 2011. The results were:

After results were disclosed and Danielle Doty of Texas was named Miss Teen USA 2011, Doty thanked her family and her ‘big sister’ Miss Texas 2011, Ana Christina Rodriguez, and took her first walk as a Miss Teen USA titleholder.
