Did you know March is Women’s History Month? According to Advert.org it is “estimated that out of the 34 million adults worldwide living with HIV and AIDS, half are women.” Additionally, the “HIV/AIDS epidemic has had a unique impact on women, which has been exacerbated by their role within society and their biological vulnerability to HIV infection.”
The great beauty icon, Marilyn Monroe, was once quoted saying “I am definitely a woman and I enjoy it.” And one of the great (and sometimes burdensome) things about being a woman is fighting the good fight while looking fabulous at the same time. While fabulous red lips go back way past Old Hollywood to Ancient Egypt, methods of making red lipstick has changed a bit since the 19th century. Rain Cosmetics is a huge supporter of Aid For Aids Nevada (AFAN). And the Las Vegas born & bred cosmetics company also has a host of fabulous red lip colors including Color Storm gloss in ‘Fire Storm’, Blood Sweat & Tears lip stain in ‘Blood’, and Glam Lipstick in ‘Red Carpet’ to help you not only look fabulous but give to a great organization that is the largest in Nevada providing care to over 4,000 men, women, and children infected with HIV. From now till April 12th, purchase any of select lip products from Rain Cosmetics and proceeds from your purchase will benefit AFAN’s cause. It’s a beautiful thing to be a woman and its powerful to show off your beauty with a conscious.
At 62, Vera Wang is an accomplished designer to the stars (and masses with her Kohls collection, fragrances, and collection for David’s Bridal). Wang showed off her Beverly Hills to Harper’s Bazaar, posing indoors and outdoors for the fashion magazine’s February issue. One shot features Wang in a Alexander Wang corset and swimsuit. Wang revealed ”I wanted to wear a corset from Alexander Wang, whom I like a great deal,” Wang explains. “I was thinking it would be over a legging or a boyish short, but the next thing I knew, I was there in a swimsuit.” She continues with a laugh, “The funny thing is that I’m the girl who no one sees at the beach. Ask anyone who’s traveled with me. Normally, I’m in so many layers, I look like Lawrence of Arabia!”
Megan Fox looks stunning with her exotic allure, mesmerizing eyes and a hint of Old Hollywood glamour in the latest Armani Beauty cosmetics advertisement. The campaign features Fox in Armani Beauty’s holiday campaign which also features the luxury brand’s ‘Eyes to Kill’ stretch Mascara and the ‘Designer Lift’ foundation.
Charlize Theron joins Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, and Marlene Dietrich in a star-studded Dior ad directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud. With a little help from digital magic, Dior was able to bring Theron and the Hollywood icons backstage in a glamorous composition with the musical backing of ‘Heavy Cross’ by Gossip. Check out the film below.
Megan Fox made her own official announcement/myth-buster. Fox, who is currently the face of Georgio Armani cosmetics has been accused of having plastic surgery particularly botox. While botox is big all around the nation, Hollywood is not entirely the right place for that type of treatment especially for an actress who needs to be able to manipulate her face to convey emotions. Fox took to Facebook and posted an album entitled “THINGS YOU CAN’T DO WITH YOUR FACE WHEN YOU HAVE BOTOX” to dispell rumors. And while I don’t think the rumors will stop because the hater-mill runs 24/7/365, Fox did get appreciation from her fans for showing her beautiful un-Botoxed face. Fox will star alongside Sacha Baron Cohen and Anna Faris in The Dictator. To see more of Fox, check out her exclusive interview with Georgia Armani Cosmetics in the video below.
In times like these, sometimes we are enticed to invest in gold. Kim Kardashian shares that vision in a scent form with her latest fragrance ‘Gold’. Fragrance just like a luxurious lipstick is sometimes like a pillow during hard-times. While it’s not a lottery ticket, it becomes a little pick-me-up when your day is taking a downturn. Fragrances can also be an elevator, rising your mood and feel. Imagine slipping into your LBD and doing your hair while listening to your favorite tunes, then spraying on ‘elegance’ and ‘luxury’. How you look is directly linked to how you feel, which is why fragrance is one of the most important accessories to not leave the house without because fragrance is one of the few items in your closet or vanity that will help transform your mood. Kim shares the value of gold as a ”luxury that stands the test of time, a universal symbol of sophistication and glamour”. Kim also added ”Like a stunning piece of precious jewelry, Gold lends everyday style a surge of seductive sparkle and timeless beauty”. In terms of the creation of her latest scent, Kim said “I wanted something powerful yet not too sweet. I got stressed out while developing the scent because I wanted it to be just perfect.”
The top notes consists of bergamot, grapefruit, pink pepper, while the heart is a floral blend of jasmine, rose, violet, which settles in to a sweet musky base of sandalwood, patchouli, amber, benzoin, musk. While Kim’s previous fragrance was a scent which conveyed sensuality, allure, and old Hollywood glamour, her latest creation conveys sophistication, intrigue, with undertones of sensuality. If you liked Jennifer Lopez’ Glow After Dark as a teen, then you will love Kim Kardashian ‘Gold’ as an adult. Not because the two fragrances are exactly the same but rather the base of the perfume has similar qualities but while ‘After Dark’ heads for a road of sweetness, ‘Gold’ takes a turn towards a sophisticated sensuality. Castmembers Lea Michelle, Dianna Agron and Corey Monteith of ‘Glee‘ are shown in a very different styling than the characters they play on their hit television series.
The Parents Television Council said in a statement blasting the producers of ‘Glee’: “It is disturbing that GQ, which is explicitly written for adult men, is sexualizing the actresses who play high school-aged characters on ‘Glee’ in this way. It borders on pedophilia. By authorizing this kind of near-pornographic display, the creators of the program have established their intentions on the show’s direction. And it isn’t good for families.”GQ magazine has responded by saying:”The Parents Television Council must not be watching much TV these days and should learn to divide reality from fantasy,” Jim Nelson, editor-in-chief of GQ, said. “As often happens in Hollywood, these ‘kids’ are in their twenties. Cory Montieth’s almost 30! I think they’re old enough to do what they want.”
Dianna Agron has also responded on her blog saying: “In the land of Madonna, Britney, Miley, Gossip Girl, other public figures and shows that have pushed the envelope and challenged the levels of comfort in their viewers and fans…we are not the first. Now, in perpetuating the type of images that evoke these kind of emotions, I am sorry. If you are hurt or these photos make you uncomfortable, it was never our intention. And if your eight-year-old has a copy of our GQ cover in hand, again I am sorry. But I would have to ask, how on earth did it get there?”
Agron added “I am not a representative of the three of us, the show, or Fox, only myself.” You can read more of Argon’s poignant response to criticisms on her blog, here.
Nicole Richie has moved past her mistakes by accepting responsibility, not blaming others, and looking towards her future instead of dwelling on the past. In the new In Style UK edition, Richie addresses her mistakes by saying “One thing about me is that I’ve always taken responsibility for my own actions whether they’re good or bad. Even when I was going through my tough time, that was a situation that I created.”
While others may blame their environment and parents for their mistakes, Richie does not; “People ask me, do I blame Hollywood or my parents? No I don’t blame my parents. It had nothing to do with them. I created it and manifested it and I got myself through it with the help of a lot of great people.”
Richie has addressed her personal life but from her Marie Claire UK interview a few months ago she shared her positive approach to life which has probably helped others focus more on the Nicole Richie now than “I’m just one to live in the present and enjoy the time that I’m having,” she said. “Going into my past is just not something that I do. Right now I’m just living my dreams.”I believe Richie has moved past her mistakes and is a very positive place in her life. I believe that because when she was first making headlines, people referred to a girl who is the daughter of Lionel Richie, the ‘sidekick’ of Paris Hilton, and the ‘bad girl’ of Hollywood. However, none of that fits the ‘mold’ of what Richie as a woman represents today, she is a mother, a successful jewelry designer with her ‘House of Harlow’ line, fashion designer with her ‘Winter Kate’ line as well as an actress and entrepeneur. She has done what many people have done, worked past her mistakes and put it behind her because time heals all wounds and apparently defeats bad press if you ‘do you’ enough. I think in our everyday lives we can take Richie as an example that even if we fell yesterday, as long as we look towards tomorrow and beat to our own drum today we’ll be headed in the right direction rather than held back in the wrong.

Marilyn Monroe is such an Iconic figure whose beauty transcends time. Here is the rundown of the things she likes , quotes she shared, and the stars who love her.
Marilyn’s Favorite Perfume: Marilyn was famous for saying she only wears Chanel No. 5 to sleep. If you want to smell like the iconic figure but find the original too heavy and strong, try Chanel No. 5 Eau Premiere, it’s lighter and makes a youthful counterpart to the original. I like the fragrance for regular daytime use and it rates a 4.3 at Makeup Alley.
“I don’t mind living in a man’s world as long as I can be a woman in it”
“People respect you because they feel you’ve survived hard times and endured, and although you’ve become famous, you haven’t become phony.”
“It’s not true I had nothing on, I had the radio on.”
“I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.”
“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”
“When it comes down to it, I let them think what they want. If they care enough to bother with what I do, then I’m already better than them.”
“If you’re gonna be two-faced at least make one of them pretty.”
“I’ve never fooled anyone. I’ve let people fool themselves. They didn’t bother to find out who and what I was. Instead they would invent a character for me. I wouldn’t argue with them. They were obviously loving somebody I wasn’t.”
“Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition.”
“I want to grow old without facelifts. I want to have the courage to be loyal to the face I have made.”
“I don’t mind being burdened with being glamorous and sexual. Beauty and femininity are ageless and can’t be contrived, and glamour, although the manufacturers won’t like this, cannot be manufactured. Not real glamour; it’s based on femininity.”
“I used to think as I looked out on the Hollywood night — there must be thousands of girls sitting alone like me, dreaming of becoming a movie star. But I’m not going to worry about them. I’m dreaming the hardest.”
“If I play a stupid girl and ask a stupid question, I’ve got to follow it through, what am I supposed to do, look intelligent?”
“What do I wear in bed? Why, Chanel No. 5, of course”
