While her national costume may have sparked controversy in the Outback, Miss Australia Jestinta Campbell was all smiles during the preliminary Parade of Nations event for the upcoming televised Miss Universe Pageant in Las Vegas. While some of her fellow countrymen may consider her outfit “a national joke”, the 18-year-old beauty disagrees. Speaking about her costume shares “Part of our Australian identity is our indigenous heritage and it was so important that it was included in the national costume.” Campbell also revealed that an “Aboriginal artist hand-painted my swimsuit which is the base of the outfit, which is very special.” Here are some photos of the Jestina courtesy of the Miss Universe Organization.

Campbell, in addition to being the reigning Miss Australia is also the Brand Ambassador for Nude by Nature. She credits the brand for letting her skin “breathe easier under bright stage lights, gives me the coverage I need while looking natural, and keeps my skin in good condition when I’m not competing.”
The beauty also notes that “As a young woman and participant in the Miss Universe competition I have had nothing but positive, empowering experiences. I have worked in the fashion industry for 3 years and unlike modeling, pageants allow you to be yourself and promote a healthy body to women around the world. The word ‘Beauty’ embodies much more than the ‘physical’ which is often the first thing that springs to mind when we thing of the word. To me, beauty encompasses much more than how we look, its how we feel about ourselves, how we act and how we treat those who are around us.”
Even with her controversy, Campbell stands proud and beautiful for her country during preliminaries. Additionally the statements she made about honoring the indigenous people of Australia is inspiring. When I think about beauty and Australia, a few words come to mind: natural, organic, radiant. Below I’m using Yves Saint Laurent Ombres 5 Lumieres eyeshadow palette in “6: Garden of Eden”. It comes with forest green, pale green, yellow green, kelly green, and dark olive. All the colors have shimmers but most of the eyeshadows are very wearable and pigmented except the pale green which has more prominent reflects with a very pretty wash of color.
Other notable Australian beauties include Victoria’s Secret Angel Miranda Kerr, Supermodel & Revlon Global Ambassador Elle MacPherson, and Actress Naomi Watts. All have radiate glowing skin and are aware of the suncare as well. I like to use Nars Albatrose for highlight on my cheekbones and chin as well as Neutrogena Liquid sunblock under my makeup to protect me from sun damage. I love this liquid formulation because I have combination/oily skin and live in humid climate, it doesn’t feel greasy at all.
