In collaboration with Elizabeth Arden, Taylor Swift has unveiled her latest project which is not a new album. It’s actually her new scent, ‘Wonderstruck’. Swift says “Wearing perfume is such a unique way to create memories. Like songs, a scent can take you back and allow you to relive a moment in time,” adding further connection to music, Swift noted “I wrote the lyric, ‘I’m wonderstruck, blushing all the way home,’ for the song ‘Enchanted’ about the first time you meet someone,” and “A fragrance can help shape someone’s first impression and memory of you. It’s exciting to think that Wonderstruck will play a role in creating some of those memories.” Wonderstruck is a gourmand floral scent with notes of vibrant fruits including raspberry and apple blossom, with notes of golden amber and sandalwood. It will be available in October $49.50 for the 1.7oz, $59.50 for the 3.4oz, and $18 for the rollerball.
Jennifer Lopez will exclusively premiere her newest fragrance Love & Light July 2nd, on HSN. On the heels of Love & Glamour, Jennifer Lopez is set to launch her 17th fragrance which is set to make its in-store debut at Kohl’s in September after its release on HSN. Lopez says “With Love & Light, I wanted to create a fragrance that was less about the world around you and more about your inner light and your spirit,” she explains in a release. “It’s about how you feel inside, it’s not about your outside world.”
Love & Light continues Lopez’ legacy of translating the qualities her fans adore from her and capture it into a bottle. Lopez delivers Love & Light as a floral and woodsy fragrance full of passion and romance by marrying scents of Italian mandarin, pomegranate, heart of rose crystal absolute, and jasmine petals. While the scent does dry down to a woodsy finish it maintains a soft and elegant scent that mimics the qualities of the bottle, bold, curvaceous, luminescent, and warm.The fragrance will feature price points of $58, while the shower gel luminous body lotion duo will sell for $32.
And speaking of lights, Lopez is set to get into camera-action, as she has joined the cast of What To Expect When You’re Expecting with Cameron Diaz and Brooklyn Decker. Lopez will play a woman who adopts a baby from abroad with her husband after having difficulty conceiving. Shakira latest fragrance is a reinterpretation of her original fragrance showing off a more feminine and flirty floral side of the latin singer. ”I wanted to find a way to express the feeling of pure happiness through the medium of fragrance”, said Shakira. While notes of jasmine, heliotrope, bergamot and cassis provide floral freshness; notes of raspberries, blackberries and blueberries combined with fresh vanilla and musk create a flirty air of happiness lightly whipped with creamy sensuality. In comparison to the original scent, S by Shakira Eau Florale blends a fine line between oriental and flower, lightly flirting between the two classifications. Overall, while the original S by Shakira reminds me of one of Shakira’s more uptempo beats, S by Shakira Eau Florale speaks to one of her softer ballads boasting sweet melodies. I personally like this scent a lot better because while I do consider myself more of a bold flavor, I prefer to wear softer scents to sort of contrast my overall essence. Just like fashion and makeup; fragrances have an ability to alter your mood and show a bit of depth to your character.
Originally released in 2010, the first S by Shakira fragrance has been well received by the public. Shakira has once described the fan-base for this scent by saying; “The type of women who feel a connection with this fragrance would be independent and strong, but also a woman with a great capacity to love and a strong sense of who they are. It’s for a woman who believes in herself.” The scent can be described as rich, bold, and spicy which are also words synonymous with describing Shakira. While the scent is best classified in the oriental category it features notes of jasmine, sandalwood, vanilla, amber, and resins.
Eva Mendes is headlining a campaigning, lending her face and voice to what Mendes says is ‘one of my favorite designers of all-time’; Thierry Mugler. The campaign features Mendes getting her wings and unveiling the Eau De Toilette version of ‘Angel’ which will be in stores in August. Mendes has said of the iconic fragrance; ”It came out while I was still in school, and both of my sisters and my mother liked to wear the fragrance. It’s really nostalgic for me! Mugler was definitely a big name in our household when I was a kid.”
In a video, released by the brand, Mendes is singing “The Windmills of Your Mind”, a song originally performed by Noel Harrison for the 1968 film The Thomas Crown Affair.Mendes’ musical talents will soon be featured again as she will play legendary Greek opera soprano Maria Callas in a biopic based off the book Greek Fire. Overall, when I think of this scent the first word that comes to mind is ‘pretty’. Newlywed Katy Perry answers the call of the wild with her feminine scent in a feline shaped bottle. Of joining the ranks of Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez, Perry says “There are amazing fragrances backed by other celebrities, but what I’m bringing is not like any other,” Katy says. “It wasn’t just like, ‘I love gardenias.’ That would have been the easy route. I really wanted to develop a scent that was completely unlike anything I’d smelled before and not one that smelled like a knockoff of another scent. I’d never want to do anything ‘just because.’

While the ads itself remind me of Lisa Frank for adults, I will say that the fragrance itself is nice and sweet. I tend to prefer sweeter fragrances, this is not at sweet as let’s say Flowerbomb, but would definitely be in the sweet and floral category. It doesn’t have a long staying power as some of the more classic scents such as Chanel No. 5 but is slightly better than a body spray.
Overall, I would recommend this fragrance to teens and pre-teens or an adult who sometimes wants a sweet and youthful fragrance and doesn’t mind a really colorful bottle on their vanity.
Christina Aguilera has unveiled an ad for her sophomore fragrance called ‘Royal Desire’. Notes include white marshmallow, blackberry as well as honey suckle with a sandalwood and musk base with a cedar.
While Lady Gaga Arrived on the white carpet in Alexander McQueen, the popstar made other headlines as she is se to release her own fragrance in 2012. On her dress, Lady Gaga said “This is Alexander McQueen, from his last collection”. Lady Gaga was at the MTV Music Video Awards armed with 13 nominations and an outfit change that was made of meat. Lady Gaga during her acceptance speech for Video of the Year for her ‘Bad Romance’ music video said “I never thought I’d be asking Cher to hold my meat purse”.
