The word ‘Bombshell’ has always been ubiquitous with anything being sold as sexy. Just like ‘organic’ has always been subjected to stereotypes of tree-hugging makers of makeup that provide no color-payoff but all the grit and dirt of the world. Sound harsh? Indeed. That was some of my first impressions of makeup lines sporting earth-friendly and organic products. While some lines have met the same quality of other brands not geared towards the eco-friendly; It is the unexpected that usually grabs my attention for better or worse. Josie Maran Cosmetics has me in wedded bliss when it comes to ‘Luxury with a Conscience’. I’ve made a couple of her products part of my every day line, and raved about her Love Nest which sold out quicker than you can say ‘Happy Holidays’. I’ve already showed you how I get ‘Bombshell’ on a budget. However, when I’m feeling like I want to be a Bombshell entangled with silk & lace luxury, Josie Maran Cosmetics is a good place to start. Don’t worry, you won’t be buying fabric. Just keep reading for product reviews and tips on some of my latest and greatest.

When I think of applying things to my skin in hopes to look some-kind-of Bombshell, I desire a silky touch. The Argan Tinted Moisturizer offers that airy and clean feeling of silk that doesn’t cover your skin, but compliments it. I’ve always believed the real foundation is your skin, but I also know that ‘perfect skin’ sometimes doesn’t want to be our friend. The Argan Tinted Moisturizer helps create that mediation for success between the real and the super-natural. I got the Argan Tinted Moisturizer in Linen which is classified for medium skin tones and found it to be a good seamless match. Just for kicks I tried it out on a friend with a darker skin tone and found that the shade selection is forgiving and leaves no ‘ashy’ looking cast on skin. While I don’t recommend jumping more than one shade darker or lighter from your skin tone, it’s always good to know that the product you get has a bit of flexibility. I have to warn you, at first squirt, you might ask yourself ‘Hey, isn’t this a little thick’ along with images of breakouts and looking oily coming to your head. I can honestly say when you actually feel the texture, you’ll find this product to be one of the best light-weight tinted moisturizers that gives you a natural (not disco ball glow). Honey Hint: When I’m out of eye primer, I reach for this luxurious treat, not only does it even out my lid a bit but allows my eyeshadows to adhere better.

I’ve always found it somewhat sultry when I see a woman eat with her fingers confidently, who can forget the lovely Padma Lakshmi in the Carl’s Jr. comercial. Makes me want to grab a jar of peanut butter and frosted flakes and go to town. But luckily, Josie Maran Cosmetics has these grown up and very luxurious fingerpaints for your lips, eyes, and cheeks. I wear the Argan All Over Face Palette in ‘Sweet’ (there is a quad in ‘Lovely’ for those who prefer more goldtones) which provides a coordinated quad of nude, pink, ivory, and copper colors which are as fun on your fingers as they are beautiful on your skin. What I love most about the Argan All Over Face Palette is that it’s not sticky like your kid sister’s palette, or hard as a rock with no color payoff as some palettes are sold by other brands which I’m pretty sure you can fill in the ___We Know Who You Are And We’re Not Buying it Anymore___. The Argan All Over Face Palette is like fine lace; provides a bit of soft color that is just begging to be touched. I’ve always believed applying makeup should be less about spackling & caking, and more about intimacy & taking a moment to take control of your day. I love the finger paint concept because it all about getting a delicate dab and softly applying it on your eyes and cheeks, or my favorite part using the ‘ivory’ shade in the ‘Sweet’ set on my cupids bow. Honey Hint: If you have a concealer that is very cakey and matte, apply a dab on the back of your hand of the nude color in the ‘Sweet’ set or peachy pink in the ‘Lovely’, then follow with a dab next to the previous with your concealer, you shouldn’t be using as much as you normally use so a light dab will do. Slowly start to mix the two together and you will have a brightening concealer that moisturizers. Note: sometimes you have to play around to get around.

I’ve already raved about this tried and true but I just wanted to point out, particularly for my friends who live in more humid climates or have oily skin like myself, who may have purchased the Argan Oil and feel it’s still too ‘oily for them’. On days when I wake up and my skin is feeling extra dry, I use this to moisturize and calm my skin and wait about a minute or two and it absorbs effortlessly. However, I do have bouts where my skin is either extra oily or the humidity is no longer my BFF. At those times, I apply the 100% Organic Argan Oil to my face and neck at night. In the morning when I wake up I might my skin to be amazingly normal, neither dry and tight or oily and greasy. Additionally, Josie Maran Cosmetics has a great selection of face powders and eyeshadows, which I haven’t tried but, I’ve heard great things about them and hopefully after the holiday madness I will be able to add my two cents on those too.

“No one ever told me I was pretty when I was a little girl. All little girls should be told they’re pretty, even if they aren’t.”
Marilyn Monroe shared this piece upon a reflection of her childhood. Monroe will always be an icon, Bombshell, and a girl who grew into a woman and showed the world that if she wasn’t to be called ‘pretty’, she must be meant for something more beautiful.
