Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis is a style icon for a reason, besides her beauty and being fashion forward for her time, her looks are being created and alway current while still being classic. When I have to attend an event that is conservative, I tend to look up to ‘Jackie O’ as she is called at times. From her makeup, hair, accessories, sunglasses, and fashion, she represents femininity, glamour, and elegance in one simple, pretty package. I wanted a simple summery updo, winged out liner, and soft pink lips. Yes getting ready is a process but having some music on and a goal in mind makes the process run smoother. Above is a shot of the finished product, below is me getting ready. Keep reading for the worst fashion mistake that could ruin your chances at getting a job, and my style sisters Kelly Ripa and Eva La Rue.

For this past year, I’ve been getting involved in different events and functions that have required me to adapt my style into something appropriate for the political climate. However scary that may or may not sound to you, often times political wear can be described as ‘stuffy’, particularly for women. Because I’m not running for office I don’t have to necessarily worry about suits.

However, if you are going to an interview here are a some things you should note. According to a survey of 2,000 employers commissioned by TK Maxx; ‘a third of employers make a decision in the first 90 seconds of an interview’ and over half stated ‘clothing could be the deciding factor if two candidates are neck and neck in other areas’. Recruitment manager Kieran How from recruiting firm Eden Brown said he has ‘never known such a competitive job market. In some sectors there are hundreds of people applying for each job’ he added that ‘it is vital you give a good impression by wearing the right clothes’. While he noted that ‘some bosses may like to see a pretty girl in a tight-fitting top flashing a lot of cleavage’ he added ‘you rarely know who will be interviewing you.’

Key points to note:

  • According to research coming to an interview with a tight-top or tops that bear cleavage is the quickest way for a woman to lose their chances at getting hired
  • Additionally, wearing a black bra under a white top, especially a sheer top, will also impede on the applicants chances of getting hired.
  • You can also tell your boyfriend or brother that according to research men who wear a badly-ironed shirt (or not even ironed at all), high waisted trousers, and comedic tie also hurt their chances.

My style sisters Kelly Ripa and Eva La Rue also have worn the same design as me. They both have the same Jackie O collar that I am wearing while maintaining a fashionable look that is both classic and elegant. I love the dress version but I leave it dinner options when I want to show my curves but leave more to the imagination. The Jackie O dress from Black Halo retails for $345.

I love the dress version of this piece. I’ve also worn the more casual cut as well to church and another tour to make a good first impression.

I’ve actually worn this look on a couple of occasions including a tour, some political events, and business dinners.
